Requirements for Diagnostic Testing

To kick off any diagnostic tests, a wellness exam is the first order of business. This step helps our veterinarians decide the most suitable tests for your pet’s unique needs.

Keep in mind that estimates for testing can’t be provided until one of our veterinarians has met your pet in person. And if you have multiple furry friends in need of testing, simply let us know when scheduling your appointment – we’ll make sure the process is smooth and straightforward.

Complete Blood Count (CBC), General Chemistries, and Thyroid Testing

For your convenience, we offer in-house blood tests that encompass a complete blood count, general chemistry, and thyroid testing. These can be done during a regular appointment, ensuring quick and hassle-free results.

X-Rays

Our state-of-the-art facility allows us to snap X-rays on-site, often on the same day as your appointment. Most times, there’s no need for sedation. But if your pet does require it, don’t worry – we’ll give you clear instructions, which typically include fasting from food and water from midnight the day before the procedure.

Dental X-Rays

To maintain your pet’s oral health, we offer dental X-rays. They provide a window into the condition of your pet’s teeth and gums, helping our veterinarians spot existing issues and potential problems, all while ensuring your pet’s smile stays as bright as ever.

Ultrasound

Ultrasounds are our secret weapon for exploring the soft tissues within your pet’s body, from their organs to detecting fluid build-up and keeping an eye on pregnancies.

Understanding the Difference: Ultrasound vs. X-rays

Both ultrasound and radiographs are exceptional diagnostic tools, each with its unique focus. The choice between them depends on your pet’s specific healthcare needs. In some cases, our doctors may recommend using both methods to complement one another, providing a comprehensive assessment of your pet’s well-being.

• Ultrasound: This technology utilizes high-frequency sound waves, allowing us to peer inside your pet’s internal organs in real time. It excels at evaluating soft tissue organs and identifying regions where abnormal fluid accumulation shouldn’t occur. Ultrasound is a non-invasive and safe method, with its familiarity extending from human medicine, where it’s frequently used for monitoring pregnancies. It proves highly beneficial in diagnosing conditions related to the bladder, stomach, intestines, liver, spleen, certain types of cancer, and even heart defects. Notably, sedation is rarely required, and your veterinarian will discuss this with you when necessary.
• Radiographs: Radiographic technology involves a minimal and safe dose of radiation to capture images of your pet’s internal organs. These images are particularly effective at evaluating solid tissues, such as bones, and providing a clear view of the external contours of vital organs.
